2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Preview

Shining in darkness

For over 40 years, the Ford F-series has been a dependable, versatile, and best-selling choice for a pickup truck. Now, the F-150 is charging into the future with the all-new, all-electric 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning.

Below, our team at IRA Ford Saco has provided a sneak peek with a 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning preview.* If you’re a driver in Portland, Saco, or Scarborough, ME, who wants to know more about this electrifying new member of the Ford family, continue reading!

100% ElectricCharging up the Lightning

Strike anywhere in the F-150 Lightning thanks to the power provided by your choice of two batteries. The standard-range battery delivers a targeted EPA-estimated range of 230 miles on a full charge. Meanwhile, the available extended-range battery can supply a targeted EPA-estimated range of 300 miles.

You’ll also have multiple ways to keep your F-150 Lightning powered up, making charging a breeze. A standard 32-amp Ford Mobile Charger allows you to easily charge the F-150 Lightning from any traditional 120V or 140V outlet. Or you can charge even faster with the available 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro, standard with the extended-range battery.

With the Ford Charge Station Pro, your F-150 Lightning isn’t just a truck—it can also act as a backup generator. Your charged Lightning can be used to power your home during an outage thanks to Ford Intelligent Backup Power. You can even set it to kick in automatically so you can be ready for anything.

100% F-150

The F-150 Lightning may be all-electric, but it’s also all-truck. With the extended-range battery, the Lightning is able to kick up to a targeted 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. With two motors, 4×4 capability, and four available drive modes, the Lightning easily shows that it’s Built Ford Tough.

And it doesn’t stop there. With a targeted 2,000 pounds of maximum payload capacity, you can load up the Lightning’s bed with plenty of materials to get to work. Or hook up a trailer and set off for an adventure with a targeted 10,000 pounds of maximum towing capability.

Towing is made even easier with the Ford F-150 Lightning.  Hooking up your trailer is a cinch with the available Pro Trailer Hitch Assist while available On-Board Scales display your truck’s approximate payload. You’ll be able to navigate smarter thanks to available Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ and Trailer Reverse Guidance.

Gotta Have That FrunkCruise at night

Inside the F-150 Lightning is an interior built for productivity. The available interior work surface folds directly from the center console, allowing you to tackle paperwork, pull out a laptop, or even grab a quick lunch.

Since there’s no traditional engine up front in the F-150 Lightning, something had to be done with the extra space: Enter the Mega Power Frunk. With a washable and drainable compartment in a sealed space, the Mega Power Frunk has up to 14.1 cubic feet of extra cargo space as well as 400 pounds of payload capacity.

Putting the “Power” in Mega Power Frunk are four Pro Power Onboard 120V outlets with a total of 2.4kW of power. Hook up power tools, a TV, or even a microwave if need be. One USB-C and one USB-A are also provided for powering your smaller devices.
